"You call Me Teacher and Lord; and you are right, for so I am. If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. For I gave you and example that you also should do as I did to you. Truly, truly, I say to you, a slave is not greater than his master; neither is one who is sent greater than the one who sent him. If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them."   John 13: 13-17

Jesus had just finished washing the disciples feet. He knew the time for His crucifixion was near and it is at this time He chose to teach His disciples to, "do as I did to you."

Let us take careful heed to what the Lord Jesus says; He said here, "Truly, truly, I say to you ..."  Jesus, who is fully God - fully man, lived as an example for us that we might serve as He did, for He came to serve not to be served. There is none greater than He, for He is Creator of all (John 1:3, Col. 1:16,17).

Questions to ask ourselves: Do I live to serve others or do I desire (expect) to be served?  Do those around me see a servant of the Lord?

When we keep our focus on Jesus and follow His example, living to serve others, then no one can abuse us and treat us as servant.

Let us all follow the example of Jesus, who lived an example before us as a willing and obedient servant.

Beloved, now that you are aware, "You are blessed if you do them."

Have a joyous day in our Lord!
