"At that time the disciples came
to Jesus, saying, "Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" And He
called a child to Himself and set him before them, and said, "Truly I say to
you, unless you are converted and become like children, you shall not enter the
kingdom of heaven. Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the
greatest in the kingdom of heaven." Matt. 18:1-4 NASB
Jesus said to enter the kingdom of heaven we must be converted
and become like children. They are the greatest [Lit. greater] in the
kingdom of heaven. Jesus said, whoever humbles himself as a child is the
greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
For the last three months our daughter and two grandchildren
(ages 2 1/2 and 1 yr.) have been visiting us from Germany while our
son-in-law has been deployed to Mesodonia. It is during this time the Lord
has taught me much about childlike behavior.
The oldest, Leah, is very trusting of us and will do daring
things because she knows that Oma or Papo are right there and will not allow
harm to come to her. She is also a little sponge absorbing all that is
around her. She loves to sing but does confuse her songs, from time
to time, putting lyric from Old Mac Donald to Jesus Loves Me.
One recent Wednesday evening we where on our way home from
church and Leah started to sing, "E I E I O, for the Bible says so... " As
a big smile formed on my face I thought, "what a profound statement has
just come out of the mouth of this child." We would do well to heed, "For
the Bible says so."
That night I asked the Lord if He would give me a song to add to
Leah's little song and the following is the result. I pray that the Lord
will renew our hearts and that we become more childlike in our loving, trusting
and seeking of Him.
For The Bible Says So (Leah's Song)

I listen to Leah as she sings her little song
the words sound simple but the meanings very strong
Jesus said that we should be like one of these,
trusting in His lovingkindness, seeking Him on our knees
E I E I O, for the Bible says so
E I E I O, for the Bible says so
Let the words of Leah's little song inspire you
The Lord has said, do what the Bible says to do
children have a way of helping us to see
how our heavenly Father loves us unconditionally
E I E I O, for the Bible says so
E I E I O, for the Bible says so
E I E I O, for the Bible says so
Thank you, Heavenly Father, for children and their innocent
ways. Please help us to rely on and trust in You as children rely on and
trust in us. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
Angel, Leah and Michael leave tomorrow to go back to
Germany. Please, if the Lord lays them on your heart, pray for their
travel mercies and for the adjustment period when back in Germany.
Thank you.
Have a joyous day in our
Lord!
April
