"Wait on the LORD; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the LORD!"   Psalm 27:14

This is a conditional promise.  We must wait on the LORD and be of good courage and then the LORD shall strengthen our heart.  Waiting on the LORD  means we must learn to trust that His plan and purpose for our lives is truly greater than we could ever imagine and that He only has the best plan for our lives.

Recently I read about some of the rewards of waiting on the LORD, in a devotional by Charles Stanley.  Here are six rewards Dr. Stanley listed that come as a result of our patience to wait on the LORD.

1.  We discover God's will and purpose. (Lamentations 3:22-25; Isa. 30:21)  We will see His plan for own lives.

2.  Receiving supernatural strength and energy. (Isaiah 40:28-30; Phil. 4:13) When we try to do things before God is ready, we find out how insufficient we are.

3.  Getting help with our battles.  (Psalm 37:9, 34)  Whenever we're in times of trouble, God will help us fight, lifting us to ultimate victory.

4.  Receiving answers to our prayers.  (Psalm 40: 1-3)  God hears the cries of His faithful servants.

5.  Obtaining fulfillment of our faith.  (Isaiah 49:22-23)  God will not allow His faithful, patient servants to be put to shame.

6.  Seeing God work on our behalf.  (Isaiah 64: 1-4)  Nothing encourages our faith more than seeing God intervene in our lives.

Over and over in Scripture, the Lord urges us to wait upon Him.  The above are only several of the many rewards to our waiting on Him and His perfect timing.  I strongly encourage you to look up the scripture references, read them and underline the main truth, you will be blessed along with hiding these truths in your heart.

Beloved, when you find yourself leaning on your own understanding about the situations in your life, find comfort in our Sovereign and just LORD and cling to Proverbs 3:5,6 "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct [Lit. make smooth] your paths."

Have a joyous day in our Lord!
