Subject: Encouragement From The Heart - June 11, 1998

I AM
I am the soul of the forbidden garden,
I ate the fruit and lost my way.
Through veil of sorrow, I sought no pardon,
My honesty He knew to stray.
He blessed me though I slew my brother,
Forgave though I forgot His Name.
Loved me as a child to mother,
Fathered me, forgave my shame.
I stood alone, forgot the garden,
Ate leavened bread, was deaf to Him.
I had no sorrow, sought no pardon,
My life I lived for me again.
I grew to number the stars in heaven,
Built cars and planes and ships to sail.
The days of work, my week was seven,
No rest, no love, no God to fail.
I went to church without conviction,
I heard His word and tithed my way.
My life I lived with my direction,
My baptized children I helped to stray.
In the eyes of man and world I prospered,
Fine food I ate and clothes I wore.
In the eyes of Father, my way was falter,
His grace and mercy, He gave and more.
I stood upon an aspen mountain,
I watched a falcon soar below.
I saw a river in the distance,
My heart was tired, my soul was snow.
I knew praise and comfort of the world,
And heard the cheers of other men.
But Father's voice, resounding swirl,
His will He wrote on my heart again.
He told me love and joy and peace,
Forgiveness He wrote that came through Him.
My soul was broken, my will had ceased,
His plan was mine to live again.
I am the soul of the forbidden garden,
I ate the fruit and lost my way.
With callused knees, I sought His pardon,
His love for me still lives today.
