3Blessed be the God and Father of our
Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born
again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the
dead, 4to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled
and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5who are protected
by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in
the last time.
1 Peter
1:3-5
John, to my dear friends in Christ; in 1 Peter 1:4 we have another promise from God. We have an inheritance of salvation awaiting us in heaven. Unlike our present world and bodies, this inheritance is imperishable, it will never die. This inheritance is undefiled with sin. This inheritance will not fade away and will remained the same! Think about this for a moment, isn't this promise awesome! As we see our love ones and ourselves someday die, we know that we will have an inheritance that will never die. As we struggle with sin in our lives we need to stop and reflect on how it will be when we have an inheritance that is without sin (personally this is my favorite part of the inheritance). As we see our bodies growing older and literally perishing before our eyes we know something infinitely better awaits us in heaven that will never fade. Instead of grumbling as we get older, we need to praise God, since we are that much closer to our inheritance and our inheritance will mean that much more to us.
Dear Heavenly Father, help us to remember the inheritance that awaits us in heaven. Help us to tell the world of the inheritance that awaits them, if only they believe, in Jesus name I Pray, Amen.
God's Many Blessings to You,
john
