10As she spoke to Joseph day after day, he did not listen to her to lie beside her or be with her. 11Now it happened one day that he went into the house to do his work, and none of the men of the household was there inside. 12She caught him by his garment, saying, “Lie with me!” And he left his garment in her hand and fled, and went outside.

Genesis 39:9-12

John, to mdear friends in Christ; iGenesis 39:9-12 we see Joseph refusing to lie with Potiphar’s wife.  Potiphar’s wife represented temptation in Joseph’s life.  Even though Joseph was a slave, Potiphar gave him everything; power, money, slaves, everything that is, except his wife.  Joseph knew that to lie with Potiphar’s wife would be sin and we see Joseph rather flee then succumb to temptation.  In our lives God has given us much and He asks us not to sin.  When you are confronted by the temptation to sin do you run?  Do you run to your real Slave Master, Jesus?  Are you willing to leave, if necessary, your “garment” behind?  In Genesis 39:9 we read Joseph’s true reason for fleeing from Potiphar’s wife, “…How then could I do this great evil and sin against God?”  Joseph knew to sin against God was greater than his sin would be against Potiphar.  Is that your attitude?  I pray it is so.

Dear Heavenly Father give us the strength to be like Joseph and flee all temptations, even if it means leaving behind our “garment”.  May we rest on 1 Corinthians 10:13, and know You will provide a way out for any temptation, in Jesus name I pray.

1 Corinthians 10:13, “No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.”

God's Blessings to You,

john
