For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. 
Philippians 1:6

John, to my dear friends in Christ; in Philippians 1:6 we have a another promise from God. The good work mentioned in verse 6 is our true salvation in Jesus Christ. God's desire is to take this good work and perfect it in a continuing sanctification process where we grow daily, closer to God and become more like His Son. How is this done? First, we need to have a desire to be sanctified, and second, we need to take an active part. If we don't take an active part in our sanctification we run the risk of quenching the Holy Spirit. The active part we are to take includes the following but is not limited to, repentance from sin, daily reading and mediation on His Word, prayer, worship, ministry, and fellowship with other Christians. Then third, God works out our sanctification and through daily sanctification He will perfect us to become more like His Son. Awesome isn't it!

Dear Heavenly Father, what an awesome promise we have from You. Help us to desire to take the active part in our sanctification.  If any area is deficient help us to see it and to desire to correct it, in Jesus name I Pray, Amen.
