The next day, the one after preparation day, the chief priests and the Pharisees went to Pilate. "Sir," they said, "We remember that while He was still alive that Deceiver said, 'After three days I will rise again.' So give the order for the tomb to be made secure until the third day. Otherwise, His disciples may come and steal the body and tell the people that He has been raised from the dead. This last deception will be worse than the first."
Matt. 27:62-64 NIV
With all the miracles and events of the crucifixion the main worry of the chief priests and Pharisees was a deception, when in fact their worry should have been the risen Jesus Christ. In this story, in 2 more days, Jesus will in fact be risen from the dead, just as He predicted. This is where our thoughts should dwell, the risen Lord. In your everyday activities (eating, shopping, working, driving, talking to your friends or kids, etc.) do you bury the Lord; that is put Him in the tomb of your thoughts so you can get on with life? Or is He out of the tomb and constantly with you. His desire is to be with you constantly, all day long. Guess what, if you put Him away in the tomb of your thoughts He's still there. Wouldn't it be better to have Him in your thoughts and activities throughout the day, then to come under conviction for your sin?
I know what you are thinking, 'Yea, right John, easier said then done!' All I can say is the most blessed people in my life, think, eat, sleep, and dream of Jesus nearly 24 hours a day. I challenge you as I challenge myself, today, do whatever it takes for you to remember Jesus in all you do. That is, write it on you hand, make a special sticky note and carry it everywhere you go, but do what you must do to remember Him throughout the day. As I have found out, you will find out one (or both) of two things; 1-You come under strong conviction and you have to confess more sin through the day you didn t see previously, and/or 2-you will be blessed by the leading He gives throughout the day. Give it a try, what do you have to loose?
Want to grow real close to the Lord, this is something you have to do! Without remembering the Lord in everything you do, you will have a hard time achieving your objectives without deceiving yourselves. This will be tough, I know I constantly struggle to try to remember Jesus in everything. But don't give up, some people will find it easy; for the rest of us (me in particular), the process will take time, again don't give up.
Still having trouble? Read His word, study His word, contemplate His word, pray His word. And then pray some more.
Still Having trouble? Read more of His word, study more of His word, contemplate more of His word, pray more of His word. And then pray some more.
Get the Point? Getting closer to the Lord must be such a strong desire, you'll do what ever it takes. Without this attitude, you will have a hard time getting there, again, don't give up.
Have a joyous day in our Lord!
