This is my first dollhouse.
My colors: House is gray, trim is dark blue and window casings are raspberry.
I was trying for a darker red but thats how the paint dried.
It is tough coming up with a color scheme.
I am trying to keep the dcor old-fashioned. Its a Victorian house.
Dates of these photos are Feb 22 through April 08. I worked on it all the time, many hours.

My dollhouse box

I am just getting into the project here. Have the major parts punched out and primed. I had to set up a workbench. I used a hockey table and put a piece of plywood on top.
Here, I am starting to attach window casings. I used wood glue and let it sit overnight. I think next time to speed things up I just might use the Quick Grab glue. Its good stuff.

More of the same only using my computer desk for more workspace. I have to use my paint cans to hold the wood flat; it is kind of warped.

Just a shot of some furniture I have assembled from kits. Thats how I got into the dollhouse project. I needed a house for the furniture.

This box holds my tools and some unfinished furniture kits.

I do most of the priming and painting in the laundry room. Some of the house shell is pictured here.

At this point, I cut out some wall patterns that I could use for wallpaper later on.
It was much easier to measure and cut it now than it would be later.
In this picture assembly of the house shell has begun. Some fixturing is required because of the warping. This is also done in my laundry room.

More house shell. See how warped the downstairs wall is.

Bought a new piece of wood for the wall, see how straight it is now. This wall is important for the house to fit together correctly. If you dont want your ceiling/floor to have a bow this piece must fit correctly.

Gluing the roof on.

Moved it back up to the computer room. I have a TV I can watch when I work here.

Painting some porch trim here.
I had to use wood putty on several of the trim pieces in the kit. Chunks would fall off the back.

Assembling the porch in these shots. Dont bother attaching the front step until you are done with the house. I broke it off right away. I needed to tip the house on its sides as I went along. The step is in the way.
Also, once the bay window is attached to the house you dont want to tip the house on that side anymore.
If you know which interior colors you will use for the dormers it is much easier to paint them before gluing them to the roof section. It would be difficult to paint the inside of those dormers after they are installed.

Back of house

Have the wire tape applied now.

Got the kitchen walls done.

Have all the wall coverings and flooring in now. The upstairs railing was bought separate and assembled. I put hinges on the door so it is working now.

The upstairs small room is my greenhouse. The floor in there is parquet I laid from a kit

The kitchen floor is a piece of stiff paper that I painted to look like wooden planks.
I textured the ceiling with wood putty mixed with water, applied with a sponge then painted it white.

The front dormer is on. It didnt fit very well.

Halfway done with shingling. It takes a while. I stained them using 2 different colors.
Its a good idea to do it outdoors; its very smelly, very messy.

Front shingles are all on.

The back roof is completely shingled.

View of front of house, completed YEA!!!

The roof finials are on.
