The coaster which ran aground on 23rd March while on a voyage from Waterford to Germany, close to Land's End. Built in Tulcea in 1999, she is 1,846 grt and is based on the Sunship design. The salvage operation which included a conveyor system up the cliff, then later a rig and barge, with Goliath and Afon Braint in support, but this failed, so it was back to the conveyor system. This only allows about 20 tonnes to removed a day. The 2 pictures were taken 26th March and 9th April, the second when the rig was still alongside, and the crane can be seen on the cliff, getting ready for the conveyor system. |
