The Heike arriving alongside the Queens Wharf after being escourted in by Anglian Prince, after breaking down off Land's End, during December 10th 2002. Built at Rendsburg in 1998, she is 2988 grt She sailed a few days later after repairs. She was one of the last commercial vessels to have berthed on the wharf, before the wharf caught fire on 8/1/03, the remains of which are scene below with the Doris K in view on Kings Wharf. This fire, saw the crane collapse into the harbour and the vessel alongside, the Tornado being damaged along her starboard side. picture below by Krispen Atkinson |
