Seen on the Toronto waterfront is the sail vessel Empire Sandy. And as I write this, I cant believe what I have found! Built 1943 by Clelands, Wallesend as Empire Sandy for Overseas Towage & Salvage, London management as a tug!, she later became Ashford in Southampton , and then Chris M in 1952, when she moved to Canada. In 1979, she reverted back to Empire Sandy, then used as a ferry, and then in about 1985 she was converted to a 3 masted schooner-what a find!
