As of now, I'll only be writing reviews for series that deserve one. The reviews that have already been posted (Air and Gravitation) will still stay, since there's no real point in erasing them anyways. =D I may finish up the rest when I have some free time...although I don't see that coming up any time in the near future. =D But yeah. The two series I mentioned earlier are actually the only ones I have done...So just go watch "Honey and Clover" and "Gankutsuou" instead. Both are excellent series that are well above your typical and/or mainstream anime bar in terms of pure artistry--both visually and thematically. The former masterfully combines a load of good laughs with great insight into the many aspects of life and unrequited love. While the slice-of-life genre may seem unappealing to many due to its boringness, "Honey and Clover" is able to break free of this image, as viewers will be able to connect with the amazingly well-developed characters or just laugh at the absurdities that are randomly, but tastefully, thrown into each episode. You'll very easily laugh to death and then be in tears (if you're the teary type...) within the time span of a little over 20 minutes. And if you really want, you can find a zillion things to analyze in the series if you look deep enough and make connections.
"Gankutsuou," while equal in excellence, is a darker tale based on "The Count of Monte Cristo." For those of you who are unfamiliar with this story, it is a compelling tale of revenge that touches upon various aspects of humanity. Gankutsuou's unique visual style, which may take a while to earn one's favor, adds much artistry to the series, which is already amazing in terms of music and plot. While the first two episodes are dreadfully boring, the rest of Gankutsuou is simply spell-binding. Indeed, this series doesn't quite match Honey and Clover in terms of themes and depth, but compared to many other series out there, Gankutsuou rises far above without leaving that "did they just randomly stick a theme in for the sake of it?" feeling. Everything fits together very nicely, and the plot and direction are enough to make this my all-time favorite series, along with Honey and Clover.
Yeah. I'll have actual reviews up later...haha! =D
