The Cornell Catholic Community is a Catholic student-based parish serving the spiritual needs of Catholics on and around the campus of Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. We're part of the Catholic Church of the Diocese of Rochester, led by our Bishop Matthew Clark, and are joined in communion with the Holy Father, Pope John Paul II.
As ministers of Holy Communion in our parish, we strive to carry out this liturgucal role entrusted by the Church to us under the direction and ministry of our parih priest Fr. Mike Mahler. As Catholics, we believe that the Eucharist is truly the Body and Blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ. We strive to assist our pastor in carrying out the duty of distributing the Eucharist, our food, medicine, and comfort (see RR Holy Communion and Worship of the Eucharist outside Mass, no. 66) at the Sunday Eucharistic celebrations, and whenever we are called upon. To make this ministry fruitful for ourselves and our brothers and sisters, we strive to deepen our spiritual life through prayer, fasting and works of mercy, through preparation before Mass, and through active participation during the liturgy according to our roles.
