MELTON Searching for information on the MELTON family and associated families. There were 3 Meltons in Nacogdoches(now Rusk Co.) County Texas by 1840. Cynthia Melton , George W. Melton, and Jeptha Melton were brothers(maybe half brothers) and sister. All 3 ended up living within walking distance of each other in Rains County, Texas

CINCINNATTA "CYNTHIA" CAROLINE MELTON Cynthia Melton born 1827, married 1st John C. Eaton and 2nd Richard Magee. and they moved to Rains County,

JEPTHA ALLEN MELTON Jeptha was born in 1834 in Alabama and died 1882 in Rains County. He married 1st a woman named Sabra (?), 2nd Nancy Ann Dunn, 3rd Annie Allday 4th Mary L. (?) and 5th Mary Jane Hinds Hournbuckle.

MILAM Searching for information on William R. MILAM, moved to Waller County, TX about 1870. Married Samantha BROOKS circa 1851 in Alabama. They lived in the Fields Store area(Waller, County) until the early 1900's.

Also searching for Louis MILAM born 1799 in South Carolina then later migrated to Georgia Before 1828. Strong evidence points to Louis as father of William R MILAM.

MAGEE, MELTON, EATON, HICKMAN, BURTON My great great grandfather, Richard MAGEE Sr., the son of John and Bethany Scott MAGEE, was born on April 30, 1804 in the Natchez Territory of Mississippi. He married Rachel SMITH in Rankin County, Mississippi in 1823 Richard arrived in Texas in December of 1840 where he was given a class 4 land grant of 640 acres in Nacogdoches County (now Henderson, Rusk County) He was a plantation owner, cotton gin owner, a paddle boat captain and owner of the "General Rusk", and a county commissioner for Rusk County Rachel died about 1849/1850 and on May 17, 1854, Richard married Cynthia Caroline (MELTON) EATON in Rusk county. Cynthia was the widow of grain/grocery merchant, John C. EATON. Cynthia was the sister of Jeptha and George W. MELTON, who also arrived in Texas about the same time as Richard.
