ProfileAs a boy, I spent my summers on my grandparents farm in Michigan. I think that's where I developed an appreciation of nature. As a teenager I got into photography and it wasn't long before I turned my eye towards landscapes. I started out in a nearby park, photographing ponds, trees, flowers and sunsets. I discovered there was a lot to see if you looked. But I soon got bored with that gig. I wanted to photograph mountains and deserts like the ones I saw in photography magazines. The problem was there weren't many natural landscapes on the SouthSide of Chicago, where I lived. So, I put my dream on the shelf. Years later, I came across a copy of "Mountain Light" a book about nature photography by Galen Rowell. In the book, Rowell, one of the world's best nature photographers, shared his technical know-how and his creative vision. But what impressed me the most was that he was a self-taught photographer. Soon after reading his book, I worked up the courage to take a photography workshop in the Canadian Rockies. I've been at it ever since. Along with my bud, Stan, who's also a photographer, I've visited and photographed some of the most beautiful country in the world. Peace
