New
beginnings…
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
The
man sat at his chair staring at the computer listening to the beat of the music
from behind him, he sighed and looked back at the door hearing a knock
wondering who or what it could be. As he neared the door the knock got even
louder. "Hold on I'm coming calm down" he yelled at the door as the
knocks got louder. Finally opening the door a young and very pale looking
woman, almost out of breath as if she had been running grabs onto his clothing
and looks up at him pleading "you gotta help me some people are chasing
me. I don't know where to run, I'm alone in this place and I have no where to
go, please, please, I"ve knocked on every door and yours was the last no
one else would help me."
sighing
the man nods and looking down at her for a moment as she scrambled into the
house, closing the door behind him looking out momentarily to see if anyone is
looking for her he shrugs and locks the door turning around and looking at the
girl.
"Do
you know why they were chasing you?"
"No,
I was just walking down the street and they whistled I turned they smiled and I
turned around, and they followed me the whole way back I didn't want to go back
to my hotel because I didn't want them to get me... can I stay here for the
night"
"Ah....I
..I..I do..."
Cutting
him off again pleading "Please I don't want to go back out there I know
they'll take me and they aren't doing it for good intents either"
Nodding
with a sigh he agrees "Alright...you can take my bedroom I'll sleep on the
couch, have you eaten yet?"
"No,
I was on my way to the hotel to do so, they had a nice bufette down there in
the lobby"
"Oh....what
hotel...? and what is your name?"
"Oh
it was the Nihldrin Inn, its down the street sort of..."
nodding he
smiles "I've been there a couple of times to the pub nice place.... and
your name?"
"Oh
I'm sorry I almost completely forgot, my name is Anne Lezira"
Blinking
for a second he shakes his head and smiles "Hmmmm.... interesting last
name..oh and mine in Thomas"
"nice
to meet you Thomas...you spoke of food...can I take you up on that offer?"
Chuckling
for a moment he nods and walks to the kitchen "All I have is pasta, I was
making some today and made a bit to much, lucky that you came along eh?"
"I
suppose so" she says looking around at pictures and smiles picking up on
looking at a picture of him when he was 4 "you were a cute little
kid"
"Oh
heh that thing yeah I suppose I was, the pasta will be ready in 5 minutes I
just had to reheat it again"
"Okay,
hey who's this girl?" She asks picking up an old dusty picture.
"Oh...that
was my mother, she was a nice person..."
"was?
she dead? mmmmm am I asking to many questions?"
"Yes
she was, she died 4 years ago, and no you aren't"
Nodding
and smiling she turns and walks to the Kitchen and leans against a counter
staring at Thomas "Thank you so much for taking me in like this, I'll have
to repay you somehow..."
Shaking
his head and smiling hey says "No, no you don't need to do that..."
She smiles
and looks up at him "No I want to, your even giving me food and a place to
stay for the night, I have to do something for you"
Sighing he
shrugs and gives in "very well, but after you've eaten okay?"
Nodding
and sniffing the air she smiles "mmm okay...I think it's almost done"
After
finishing her words the ding of a timer goes off and he smiles as he walks over
to the pot and scoops some pasta out of it and places it into a plate, as he
turns around he gets a fork out of the drawer with his free hand and walks over
to her setting the plate down. "enjoy..."
She smiles
and begins eating "I will"
Watching
her for a couple of seconds he walks into the living room and sits down at his
desk, the beat of the music changed onto another song as he sits there
listening to it and the sound of the woman's chewing. After a couple of
minutes, he hears silence and turns around to see her almost right on top of
him, startled he smiles wryly "I didn't see you sneak up on me like that."
"I'm
sorry I was trying to surprise you, ummm....now for your repayment...hmmmm let
me see....turn around..."
"Uh....I
dun..think..."
"Come
on silly I won't do anything."
He sighs
and turns around, and closes his eyes feeling her breath on his neck as she
leans over and kisses him tenderly "Ummm...I'm not so sure about this,
we've only just met.."
"shss...don't
worry you won't feel a thing it'll be over in few moments" she says with a
chuckle
"what
do you me..." not even able to finish his last words his eyes go wide eyed
as the woman sinks her fangs into his neck, and goes limp in her grip. As he
lays there, the woman draining his life, he thinks back to her words, all the
things she was saying and says a silent curse before passing out.
With that
the fading sounds of her chuckle can be heard as the lights go out, his limp
body still in her arms.

The Next
morning
As the
first rays of sunlight hit Thomas' face he wakes up immediatly, and shakes his
head feeling like it was a bad dream, he looks around and finds he's in his
bed, as he turns thinking it must of been a dream he sees her, the woman who
attacked him. Reaching up quickly to his neck, he gulps his fears being
founded, what happened last night wasn't a dream at all it was all real. He
lets out a groan and jerks back seeing her stir, her eyes fluttering open as a
smile plays across her face her voice calm and soothing no, "Did you sleep
well?"
Staring at
her in disbelief he nods "wha...what did you do to me....how am I still
alive, I thought when your kind fed you killed...."
Shaking
her head and smiling she replies, "we do but you seemed special, you were
the only one who was kind enough to let me in your home, you even fed me, the
only way I could repay you was that way..."
"But
why, I didn't ask for it or anything, you say it was to repay you...but I only
did what I would do to any person in trouble..."
"Yes
but, because of that people like you are always preyed upon and killed, now
that you have been turned you can't die by conventional means. I've given you
the chance to help others if you wish...I will understand if you ask me to
leave"
Scratching
his head thinking about it for a moment he turns and looks at her again, her
features still the same pale one, of a young woman and then sighs "Please
leave, I need to think this all over...if I need to I'll contact you."
Shruging
and turning to the door she leaves and then turns back looking at him "Thats
not where I'm staying by the way..." with that she reaches a slender hand
into her pocket and puts it on his counter and leaves the door still open as
she dissapears into the shadows.
Leaning
back into his bed his face buried into his hands thinking back to the moment
she attacked, the images that came to his mind, the feeling of how useless his
life had been up to this point. He looks up remembering her words "I've
given you a chance to help others." He sighs and gets up walking into the
bathroom and turning on the shower watching the steam come up from the liquid
as it sprinkles against the wall. As he takes off his clothes clearly his mind
goes once again through the night's past events through each detail slowly. He
shakes his head dismissing the thoughts and steps into the shower letting the
beating of the water drain out the thoughts from his mind.

The First
As Anne appeared she
smiled looking up at the familiar sign greeting a creatures of the dark as she
stepped into the tavern. Taking her
knee length coat she walks causally to the bar. As if waiting for someone, then he walked in, his face is
feverish and pale but he still managing to make it to the bar staggering
slightly as he looks down at the barstool. Draping
her coat over the bar top she slides a boot heel the lower rung of the seat.
When he finally sits down on the stool it feels much higher then it looks so he
leans against the counter to keep himself up.
Turning her head to the side she spots him, as he turns feeling her eyes
on him.
He grimaces realizing whom it is “you again… why am I so
weak?“
As she stands she walks
towards him, her hand sliding along the fine grain of the bar top “You are weak
because you must feed” Looking at her almost as if confused he asks,
“Feed?” She shakes her head slightly,
casting a glance about the tavern, "not the kind of sustenance you need
now though" At that point he feels eyes on him and turns looking at an
Asian girl she wears a plain silk dress and blinks before looking back at Anne
“A different kind?” She nods slightly
turning her head back to him, “You require blood now it is what sustains you
feeding from mortals will make you strong.”
Staring at her for a
moment in silence he finally replies, “Blood… like what you did?” She only nods
“Yes something of that matter” He sighs and then looks to the woman at the bar
and nods, he then turns and looks back to Anne "but most don't want such a
thing, being feed on...” She only smiles slightly in a resolute manner “They do
not understand what is offered I think.”
He nods "I see...." and then turns back to the Asian woman
staring at her for a moment and then back to Anne, "And do many of these
ones in here feed on the mortals for their blood?" Anne frowns turning on her barstool scanning
the tavern, “They do.” Nodding and only
replying “Oh…” A man looks up at the two towards Anne and calls out “Hey
beautiful” She just raises a brow and then turns away back to the bar
dismissing the obviously drunken man.
The Asian woman blinks, her pale face void of emotion. Her body incased
in a dark shadow, only a thin strip over her icy blue eyes that eye Thomas slightly.
The drunken man now
moving closer to Anne tries in some way to hold a conversation with her, “Hey
what’s wrong with you?” Hearing him
Thomas turns and looks up at the man and then back to Anne. Looking from Thomas to the man studying him,
“wrong with me? Nothing, except the
close proximity of some.... uninteresting individuals.” She grins and turns
away maliciously. Staring at the
drunken man Thomas turns his gaze back to the woman who has been eyeing Anne
intently for a couple of minutes now.
Her eyes go wide and then she blinks and blushes slightly turning away
from Thomas, she hums softly her slender fingers running over the two rings on
her left hand. Staring at her Thomas
blinks and then turns his attention back to Anne, as the drunken man finally
gives up bothering them, “Who cares about your silly people..." and
wanders off to talk with another group of people. Shaking her head at the man Anne turns back to Thomas, "you
must feed, you cannot allow yourself to go on weak. It will restore you"
Nodding to her he frowns
and looks around the tavern, “And I go about this how?” She stands resting her back on the bar and
pats him on the shoulder, "lets just see what we can find then.... just
follow my lead I suppose." He
sighs as he scans the tavern once again nodding "sounds good to me I
suppose." Anne narrows her eyes
slightly and leans back, studying the patrons, her head cocked to the
side. Thomas does the same not really
knowing what to do but he continues to look around the tavern.
And then a woman comes
in wearing leather pants and a midriff flashing black tank top. Over her arms
are fishnets; a cheep looking necklace hangs from around her scrawny neck, pale
skin, and deep blue hair. Half closed eyes look around tiredly with a vast
amount of effort. Anne nods to herself
and then turns to Thomas to indicating the woman, "There, Thomas, see her
there? Can you see her essence? The life?" He looks towards the girl and then back to Anne "her...?
More than most of the ones in here I suppose...” The woman pulls a tootsie roll
pop from her back pocket and pulls off the wrapper, balling it up into her
palm, fingerless gloves cover each hand, tossing the wrapper to the floor
carelessly, popping the blueberry pop between her lips. Anne drops a faint grin and then turns to
the woman walking towards her, trusting Thomas to follow behind. He gets up and slowly follows behind her
trying to keep his balance, still weak from not feeding at this point. Anne stops a pace away from the woman,
smiling faintly as Thomas follows.
Thomas still looking around the tavern doesn’t notice her stop and bumps
into her gently and blinks shaking his head feeling like he just walked into a
wall.
The woman just rolls the
pop between her teeth, clicking it against them lightly as she makes her way to
the bar, swaying her hips from side to side like any attempt seductress might,
as she leans down against the bar, the top of her tank slides down slightly,
revealing her soft, full breasts beneath the fabric, ignoring everyone because
frankly she can't see them.
Anne turns her head and
looks over her shoulder at Thomas, then reaches out and grabs his upper arm,
dragging him forward as she speaks into his ear "Be self assured, you know what to do, deep inside you." He stares at Anne for a moment and mutters,
"If you say so...should I just walk up to her?" She nods slightly and gives him a push. "That is one way to do it. Or you may just speak with her, the choice
is yours."
The woman reaches an arm
over the bar, rummaging around in a shelf under it, cursing under her breath.
With the movement of her lips the tootsie roll pop falls from her lips and she
curses more, having a horrible day and it only gets worse by the second,
snorting with a frown as she sits back on a stool, leaning her elbow on the bar,
chin in the palm. Thomas sighs and then
pauses for a moment before walking up to the woman and looks down catching the
lolly pop mid air and then smiling as he hands it to her sliding in the seat
next to her "you dropped this...” She smiles lopsidedly and takes it from
him, sliding it back between her lips. "Thanks" her eyes are hazy
like she's not all there in the head... or just under heavy sedation. Anne smiles to herself and steps back a
pace, sliding into a seat at a table just behind the two. Ready if Thomas needs assistance, but
trusting that he can get this right, she pulls a leg up to rest her heel on the
seat, draping an arm over her bent knee as she reclines in the chair.
Thomas blinks staring at
the woman and smiles "you want me to get you something to
drink?" “Sure…” She says staring
at him. “What will you have?” She shrugs, "Whatever you're having
will work." He nods and orders her
a screwdriver and smiles handing her the glass looking up at the bartender
smiling "here ya go...” She crosses her ankles, scuffed Nikes thudding
against the metal bar that holds her stool up, leaning over the bar more,
appealing to Thomas' more. Acquired tastes, grinning to herself as she sucks on
the lolly suggestively, leaving the drink is for now. He blinks staring down at her leg and smiles looking back up at
her as he licks his lips out of a different kind of hunger.
She takes the lip
licking as a good sign and grins wider, twirling a strand of hair around her
forefinger as she makes small talk just to stall for a moment while she plans
her next move. "So what're ya doin here handsome?" setting her lolly
down into the screwdriver, twirling it around in the fluid. Staring at the two from her table Anne sighs
and rolls her eyes slightly, suppressing a chuckle, pondering the fact that
Thomas will have an easy time of this.
As a smiles plays across
Thomas’ pale face as he replies "Looking for something to eat, finding
someone to talk wif I suppose."
Staring at her and stuttering slightly "hmmm I may have found
both...” She just grins wider, "I'm sure we could work. Something out...”
He smiles and picks up his glass brining it to his lips taking a sip letting
the liquid warm his throat feeling a slight release from his pain and hungers
as he stares at her for a moment "I'm sure we could....” With that she
slides her stool closer to his, hand resting lightly on his thigh as she takes
another sip of her drink, surprised at how easy it was to find someone for the
night... or so she thinks. She blinks
and hops onto a stool, not knowing she's at the bar she turns around with her
back to is. Propping her bear in her lap she brushes an annoying lock from her
face, skinny legs dangling over the stool's edge. One foot rests on the top
rung of the stool lazily.
Thomas blinks and stares
at her smiling already beginning to feel his innate abilities taking over,
hearing the whispers of her thoughts and shakes his head thinking he's just
gone mad. He smiles and leans in closer
brining his hand up to her face and turning it slightly to the side as he leans
over brushing his lips against her neck.
As she watches Thomas Anne leans forward in her chair, wrapping her arms
about her up drawn leg, her lips parted slightly. The woman shivers down her back with a soft smile, sliding back
from him slightly, "What do I get in return...?" He smiles and stares up at her "You'll
get something that you may never of thought of having....” The woman grins
widely, sipping her drink, hoping her point was made so she doesn't have to go
about broadcasting she's a whore, then chuckles under her breath. "Enough about what sits between your
legs dearest... I want something... shall we say... more real than that."
He grins and hands her a
bag of gold and then looks up at her "something like that mayhaps...” The
eyes of a small 5 year old girl who has been talking to a little bear for the
past couple of minutes shifts her gaze from Anne to Thomas and the woman
hearing their words. Looking into the bag
and she shrugs lightly, downing the rest of her drink in a quick swallow, and
turns to face him abruptly, "This is a good start.” The little girl
watching them just giggles softly, and goes back to talking to the litter bear
in her arms. Thomas grins as he stares
at the woman, "very well then."
Thomas grins and leans over going back to her neck kissing it slightly,
grinning to himself as his hand rests on her leg. She purrs lightly, running her nails lightly over Thomas' arm,
the bright blue lacquer on them matches the shade of her hair and eyes, arching
her neck slightly into him, rather unsettled by the openness of the intimacy.
Anne looks back to the
little girl who just fell a moment ago and blinks slowly, shaking her
head. The little girl giggles and hops
back up into a comfortable spot. Her eyes locked on Thomas and the woman
curiously. Anne shifts in her chair,
biting her lower lip between her teeth, her eyes narrowed as she watches. As the woman leans closer to Thomas, it
finally happens he loses control and sinks his fangs into her neck causing a
little bit of blood to spatter on the ground as he closes his eyes feeling the
rush in his head as his pain beings to subside. The little girl clenches her bear to her chest tightly; her eyes
locked on Thomas and the woman in a terrible manner, as the woman opens her
eyes wide, feeling his fangs sink into her neck. Muttering a curse under her
breath she realizes she should have known this would happen in a place like
this. Her hands slide up to his shoulders, nails digging in to try and push him
away.
The little girl’s eyes
widen, she opens her mouth all wide like and let's out a high-pitched scream of
fear. Dropping her bear on the floor she screams louder, her arms wailing at
her sides, she continues screaming, she jumps from the stool to the floor, her
shoes giving off a slight squeak. Anne
hisses sharply and turns her head, looking at the screaming child. She stands and walks to where she dropped
the teddy, scooping it up in her hands and turning for the child.
Thomas feels her hands
on him causing him to sink his teeth in deeper letting out a feral growl,
inside his head though, his mind is telling him to stop, but he can't he can
only feel the hunger and the need to fulfill it. The woman whimpers softly but is to afraid to scream, closing her
eyes tightly and in her daze hopes he'll let her go, having no religion to
speak of otherwise she would be praying like any rational person, still weakly
trying to push him away, her nails sliding from his skin as he takes more of
her blood, her pale skin growing paler by the minute.
The little girl’s
screams suddenly stop at the sight of Anne, her breath is deep and quick as an
only says “Hush Child.” The little girl
gently takes the bear from the woman; she nods in agreement and blinks not
taking her eyes off the woman and climbing onto the stool once more. Anne looks over her shoulder at Thomas as
she stands, moving forward and resting a hand on the little girl's shoulder, to
comfort, or restrain her if needed. The
little girl looks up at Anne and manages to stutter the words, "Y.y.y.you
shouldn't.t touch m.m.m.me...” Anne lifts her hand and looks down at the child,
then nods and steps away, "if you insist then.” Still shaken up stuttering she says “T.t.the glitter.”
Thomas
sighs as his conscious begins to take over most of his thoughts, hearing her
whimpers and finally realizing there are children watching him he stops and
lets go of her, and stares into The woman's eyes blinking and then looks to
Anne "...” Anne gives Thomas a faint nod,
"I trust you are feeling a bit better now." The woman is obviously scared, swallowing
nervously her hand goes to her neck, feeling the blood run over her fingers,
bringing it up to look to make sure it's what she thinks it is but at the
sight, she faints, falling back off her stool... partially from blood loss,
reeling. Thomas looks back sliding his
hand around her neck and picking her up and turning to look towards Anne
"I couldn't finish her off... I just couldn't...” The woman goes limp
against Thomas, as if sleeping. He
walks silently to Anne and frowns "what should I do with her? I don't want to leave her here....” Anne
steps forward and reaching out, wiping a bit of the blood from the sleeping
woman's neck in Thomas' arms. She looks
up at him as she slips her finger into her mouth, "take her home with
you... she will change now... like you" He just nodded and walked off
looking down at the girl whispering to her bear, and slipped out the door
heading back for his apartment.
