My name is Cori Shieh, and I'm a recent MPA ( Master of Public Administration) Graduate of Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University , USA. My concentration is Information & Technology Management. My studies at Maxwell School have prepared me for the future. Specific courses in Computer Applications and Public Managers, Data Administration Concepts & Database Management, Program Evaluation, and Qualitative and quantitative analysis should help me enormously to master the position you outlined in the announcement.
In addition, I have had to develop strong computer skills to fulfill the academic requirement of the curriculum. I have used the SPSS statistical software in Statistics and Program Evaluation classes, and I am proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
Over the past year at Maxwell School, I joined several Maxwell Consulting Projects as a consultant to provide solutions to the clients concerned with improving overall efficiency and as a database designer to design database prototypes by using MS Access application. The projects gave me a chance to apply the concepts and skills I learned from school to the practical world. Also, all the research, writing and class presentations of the projects turned me into a solid critical thinker and communicator.
In the extra curriculum activities, I serve as the president of Syracuse University Taiwanese Student Association that has approximately 200 members. From managing such a large student group, I developed strong organization skills, effective networking and communication skills needed to interact with various individuals, groups, and businesses to enhance the development of Taiwanese Student Association.
I'm certain that my experience in research, and extra curriculum activities make me a qualified applicant. I concern myself not a genius but a passionate, diligent, quick study, willing to receive challenges, and self-improving hard worker. You need the right people in today's fast moving economy and I consider myself the person that you are looking for.
