Don't get me wrong, I'm having a wonderful time in France and seeing lots of things that many will never have the opportunity to experience. I was just sitting down one day, collecting my thoughts, and recollecting my time here. The stories, memories, and events that really stick out in my mind are not mental pictures of the L'Arc de Triomphe or the Eiffel Tower, they have more to do with the people there with me and what they were doing when we were taking the elevator to the top, the expressions on our faces when we actually realized how far up we were, and the Arab guys who were running all around trying to sell us stolen goods before we went up and as soon as we came back down.
I've decided for myself that you can have fun regardless of where you go, it's just a matter of surrounding yourself with new people, new environments, and learning how to enjoy each of them differently.
Please don't take this quote as a selfish belief, but I am a firm believer in it!
So now I must explain myself.....
You may be associated or drawn to a friend, boy/girlfriend, aquaintance for the status they have or the things they're known for, but relationships built solely on this kind of reasoning never last long at all. There has to be something else! Real love for friends for friends and family is developed by the ways they make you feel comfortable when your arround them, wanted when you're there or not, special through your worst of moods, and acceptably humble when you've gone too far. For the ones who put you down, make you feel like you need to be something your not, who dont accept you and all your qualities, good or bad, and who dont allow you to maintain a feeling of security in their presence are not the people with whom you want to surround yourself or turn too when you cant manage on your own.
