Chi-Chi
Chi-Chi, my dad's Chestnut French Lop, got to be a big boy. He wasn't full grown in this picture!
This is the last picture we have of Chi-Chi. He was born July of 1979. When rabbits get used to a place to hide, they always think that place is open. In July of 1981, he was being chased by a dog, so he ran for safety in a usual place; but the door was closed and he ran into it head-on and died. Two years old, twenty pounds (though my parents may have been exaggerating a little). They were very upset over the loss.
Playing in the snow, and the mouse-over picture is when he was still just a little bunny, eating celery. DON'T feed your rabbits celery; the strings can get caught in their digestive system. My parents apparantly didn't know this at the time.

Large rabbits, especially lops, have wonderful temperaments. They can be just like dogs, even coming to their name! It seems like there are more similarities than not between large rabbits and dogs. They make excellent house pets.
