Corey was born at 28+5wks gestation by Emergency Caesarian section.
He weighed just 2lb 2oz. |

He was immediately ventilated as he couldn't breathe on his own and was rushed to NICU.The day after he was born they told us they didn't expect him to survive as he had developed Pneumonia and told us to spend as much time with him as possible. But being the fighter that he is he pulled through. He has however had a very tough road. He has had an IVH (brain bleed), suspected NEC (necrotizing enterocolitis), and a PDA which had to be operated on at Leeds General Infirmary when he was just 8 weeks old. After this operation it was thought he would get better, however things go much worse. Corey went into respiratory failure and had to be put on an Oscillating ventilator and given Nitric to help the blood supply to his lungs. As a last resort he was given Steriods (as these can have developmental effects in later life) and after 10 weeks on the ventilator progressed to CPAP. He cycled on/off this for about a week and then went onto low flow. He is now off CPAP and we are hoping to get him home at the end of March. He recently had his immunisations which he had a bad reaction too but hopefully he will be back on form soon.
