| 4/20/02 - (2:00pm) Corey is doing well today. He had an ultrasound done on his heart last night to determine whether or not his PDA has closed. The results came back this morning and his PDA was closed. (YEAH!!!) This will help improve his other vital signs. He was also able to come off the Dopamine, which was used to control his low blood pressure, at about 9:00am this morning. His oxygen level is now at about 35% (21% is what we breathe). They also decided to start feeding him this morning (He has been on an IV with the nutrients that he needs since he was born). They gave him about 2cc of food and they will see how his digestive track will handle the food. | ||||||||||||||
| 4/20/02 - (10:30pm) Corey is still doing well. He recieved more food at 3:00pm and it looks like he is starting to digest the food he recieved earlier in the day. This will be a big step for him. His oxygen level is now down to 33%. They are planning on doing another head ultrasound this coming monday. His first head ultrasound that was taken after 3 days did not show any bleeding. The doctor said that if there would be any bleeding there is a 90% chance that it would occur in the first 3 days. They do not expect to see any bleeding at his next utrasound, but are checking to make sure. | ||||||||||||||
| 4/21/02 - (3:30pm) Corey is doing well. He is digesting the milk they are giving him. He has actually passed some through completely. He is now at 30% on his oxygen. They are talking about a possible move to a different ventilator in a couple of days. This ventilator will be giving him more normal breaths and is a step in the right direction. They also measured his length and he was 14.25" long. I will be adding that to his front page. | ||||||||||||||
| 4/21/02 - (9:30pm) Corey is doing well and is still about the same as he was on his last update. | ||||||||||||||
| 4/22/02 - (8:30pm) Corey is doing well today. He had his second head ultrasound done this morning and his results were very good. There is no bleeding. This means a lot, because they figure almost all his chances of bleeding would have happened in his first 7 days. They are doing more with him after they found out about the ultrasound. He got his first bath today and they weighed him. He is now 2lbs 1oz!!!!! This is great, because most babies will lose weight. They said he could lose up to 10% of his body weight. He is also digesting more food and they are able to keep him on his regular feedings. The nurse also said she had to change a very stinky diaper. This is great, because he is actually digesting his food. This can be a very big stumbling block for babies his size. | ||||||||||||||
