Mini Biography for Sarah Chalke

Sarah Chalke was born in August, 1977 in Vancouver, Canada to Doug and Angie Chalke. She has two sisters. She knew she wanted to be an actress when she was very young. She graduated from high school in 1995. Her break came in 1993 when she won the role of Becky Connor on the TV series "Roseanne", originally played by Alicia Goranson. Some of Sarah's interest are skiing, basketball, hiking, and dance.

Took over the role of Becky on "Roseanne" (1988) from Alicia Goranson in 1993.

(2001) Said she would like to take a break from acting and attend college.

(1993-1997) Played older sister of Sara Gilbert (I) on "Roseanne" (1988), but is three years younger in real life.

(13 September, 1999) Attended the 1999 CCMA award ceremony, and presented an award for the best single of the year.

Has blue eyes.

Appeared in local Vancouver theater productions, at age 8.

Is fluent in French and German.

She volunteers at a hospice for terminally ill children and works for the Audrey Hepburn Children's Fund.

In her leisure time, Chalke prefers cooking with friends (especially Thai and sushi), playing the guitar, hiking, skiing (she's an instructor), snowboarding, kayaking and reading.

Her father is a lawyer and both her parents are mediators who also run a child adoption agency. Two years ago, she accompanied her parents to China to coordinate the adoption of several orphans there.
