Ang Krus Ng Golgota:

A Wake-Up Call For Everyone

by: nikki abella

“Handa akong pasanin

Kanyang krus ay dadalhin.

Sa abot ng aking lakas,

Mga bisig kong kalasag..

Tutulungan kita,

Sa abot ng akong makakaya.

Susunod sa yapak mo,

Patungo sa Golgota.”

Thus were the lines from a heartwarming song that gripped each parishioner on the night of March 23 and 24, as they witnessed a musical passion play, entitled “Ang Krus Ng Golgota.”

A production under Teatro Ebanghelyo (a group of talented youth), music from the incomparable People Precious and Few Choir (PPFC) and had an outstanding Mr. Vincent Ocampo as the director, need I say more? Who could be any luckier than the PYM Servant-Leader himself who was unanimously chosen to portray as Jesus Chris?

It was a breath-taking experience, particularly to those who eagerly worked for the pursuance of the play. Having gone through endless hours of shooting scenes, almost hoarsely voices of singers and literally sleepless nights for everyone. Definitely, it was a-no-piece-of-cake scenario.

However, the fact that hundreds of weary hearts were stirred, myriads of souls awakened made it all worth it and very much rewarding! Those who were present at the superb event felt that it served as a wake-up call having been able to realize God’s unconditional love for us through His sufferings on the Cross.

The event was truly applauded and had an overwhelming response from the audience! no doubt for a possible repeat.

Sportsfest: Sweat and Wet!

By: anna luz

It is June once more; time for the annual Corinthian Sports Fest but this year’s event was quite different for the Parish Youth Ministry (PYM) spearheaded it.

Several reasons that almost left some in dismay behind delays but many were still eager and excited to sweat it out!

The much-awaited sports fest was held last June 26 at Barangay Fairview Covered Court. It was well attended by youngsters from different organizations, engaging themselves in different activities. There was a cheering competition wherein four groups were divided in to two, A and B act as a team same as with C and D. After that, the real competitions began. Volleyball and basketball were the most heated games were wild cheers and howls bombarded the place. Tense, suspense and excitement filled the air.

Followed were the parlor games: tug of war, longest line and obstacle with, of course, the unforgettable Fear Factor. The unappealing factors were raw eggs, olive oil, catsup, vinegar, ginger ale, soy sauce and hot sauce.

The said event was concluded with an awarding ceremony and a closing prayer. It was unbelievably tiring yet undoubtedly fun, enjoyable and memorable.

The Newest in CSPGS

The Cathedral Shrine and Parish of the Good Shepherd (CSPGS) is really unstoppable for its innovations and projects! A newly opened Gift Shop and Bookstore for the parishioners, which is located near the main entrance gate is a proof to that.

It has been said to be Msgr. Romy Rañada’s idea due to a vacant room whereas occupies part of the parish’s façade. Our dear Monsi wanted to make use of the said room and upon considering the absence of a gift shop, he pursued on putting it up just in time for the parish’s Pearl Anniversary.

The Gift Shop and Bookstore was officially launched to the public last July 24 which houses must-see books about God, Religion (Catholicism at that), inspirational quotes in frames, images CD’s and a whole lot more novelty items.

Indeed, a nice, worth-visiting place. Come and see it for yourself.

November 2004 marked the first and biggest youth assembly in the history of the Parish Youth Ministry (PYM) entitled ISKRA: Isang Kristong nasa Atin. It was a fresh endeavor took by the PYM to gather the youth within the areas of Fairview for an overnight event of clean fun, music and real-life lessons.

It has been a year since that remarkable event yet majority of the attendees wants a repeat, well, so is the ministry for it will once again make a bang for a much bigger, more memorable and no-stopping recollection that will truly make a difference in a teenager’s life.

According to the PYM, this year’s theme will still be in relation with that of the precious year however, ISKRA II aims to help today’s generation of kiddos on their search for answers about the Church, Christ and the Eucharist using a less heavier approach.

Definitely, with only a month and a half left for the preparations, (November is the target date), the ministry is already busiest as ever, seeing every necessary detail for the event, from the appointment of tasks up to the big day itself!

So, girls and guys, grab this chance to have a break, breathe and meet new friends. I am sure you will, certainly in Christ!
