The Corduroy Buddhas concept began on a grocery store aisle in Clay, Alabama in the fall of 1993. Wil Brownell, a songwriter and drummer for a garage rock band called "Malachi", met Shane Bowman, a budding songwriter with no band experience, and decided to collaborate on a songwriting project. After writing several quality songs, the two decided a band must be formed to bring the songs into further development. They met up with Josh Self, a guitarist and bassist. Wil took the drummer role once again and with Shane on guitar, the band was formed. The three then decided to change the name. They went under the monikers of "No 2 Ways" and "The Quakers" until the group fell on hard times and disbanded in 1998. With a few years of life experience under their belts, Wil and Shane reunited in November 2006. They decided to bring back the original concept of writing meaningful and heartfelt pop/rock tunes and the original name. Now the fruits of their labor is complete with the new CD "Arkadelphia". Featuring 4 old songs reworked from the 90's and 8 new songs, this CD is sure to please.
