About Associação de Capoeira, Cordão de Contas
Associação de Capoeira, Cordão de Contas is a capoeira organization based on Rio de Janeiro, Brazil which was established in 1980. Led by Mestre Decio and four other mestre, there are about 1500 alunos (students) in Brazil, and many hundreds more in Paraguai, Japan and Canada.
Ass. Cordão de Contas do Hawaii was established in 2004 by Instrutor Brinco. Please see his brief background below.
A brief history of Instrutor Brinco aluno de Mestre Decio de Azeledo
- 1997 September - Primeiro (First) class with
Instrutor Rod (Capoeira Batuque, Hawaii), in which classes were held at Old Stadium Park.
- 1998 May - Presentation of Capoeira Batuque on KHON Channel 2 NEWS Morning Show with Instructor Rod and other students.

1998 June - Primeiro Batizado (Graduation Ceremony) at University of Hawaii w/ Mestre Ahmen, Mestre Beiçola, and Mestre Ozado. Officially baptized as a capoeirista and given apelido (nickname) of "Brinco" and received premeiro cordel verde from Mestre Beiçola.
- 1999 April - Met a contra mestre by the name of Jairo & his aluno (student) at the time Ikemura Takashi
(later Prof. Samurai) group Cordão de Contas do
Japao, in Japan.
- 1999 June - Back in Honolulu, Hawaii, he
was notified that Capoeira Batuque Hawaii no longer existed.
- 1999 August - Back in Japan upon his return to train with
Ass. Cordão de Contas do Japao, he met Mestre Decio of
Ass. Cordão de Contas do Rio de Janeiro. Together with
Mestre Decio, Takashi Ikemura (Prof. Samurai), Takashi Yamamoto (Inst.
Sereno), Kalani Hoopai (Inst. Deshikupa) of Capoeira Batuque, Hawaii,
have participated in presentation on NHK Hall Live (Hiru Bon) at
Asakusa Carnival, Hiratsuka Carnival, and Ass.
Cordão de Contas do Japao Premeiro Batizado in Oimachi.
- 1999 October - Together with Samurai
(Takashi Ikemura), have participated on a game soft creation for INEX
Play Station 2, "Bust a Move III." Using motion
captures, they have performed capoeira moves to be incorporated into
the computer animation.
- 1999 November - Took a first trip to Rio
de Janeiro, Brazil, and officially joined Ass.
Cordão de Contas R.J. Received second cordel (Amarelo Ponta
Verde) from Mestre Decio and was baptized as Instrutor Brinco, along
with Instrutor Samurai, Monitor Sereno. This memorable trip has
lasted for a little more than two months.
- 2000 January - Participated in a
Capoeira presentation in a night club "Wave Waikiki" with
Group Senzala Hawaii led by Prof. Japa.
- 2001 July - Participated in a Capoeira
presentation for Hawaiian Electronic on North Shore, Oahu, with Prof.
Marcia (Abada), Prof. Japa (Senzala), Instrutor
Deshikupa (Ass. Cordão de Contas), and many other capoeiristas.
- 2003 November - Attended a batizado of
Capoeira Hawaii (formally Capoeira Batuque) with Prof. Rod, Mestre
Beiçola, Mestre Kinya, Mestre Batata, Prof. Japa, Inst. Dishikupa,
Inst. Bosachi, and many other capoeiristas.
- 2004 November - Opened a new group, Associação Cordão de Contas do Hawaii, at Old Stadium Park, Honolulu.
