DIVISION HISTORY
The history of the Fr William Corby Division must start with two AOH Brothers with the vision and desire to get it going. Tom O'Mahoney and Jamie Gaffney started discussing the idea of a second division in Franklin County, Ohio in the Spring of 2002. By that summer, both Tom and Jamie had many ideas but it was time to recruit current members for transfer along with new members to start this new divison. Many "porch" meetings were held at Tom's house, discusing everything from names of the division to bylaws, and a business plan.

The recruitment of at least 15 new members was a challenge, but not impossible. It was done within the time frame that would make it possible for the new division to install the new members on Tuesday, December 10, 2002. Honored brothers in attendance included Past National President Michael Coogan, National Catholic Action Chairman Kevin Talty, National Director/Organizer Gerry Curran, State President Dan MacDonald, State Vice President Mike McKenzie and many other local Hibernians.

The newly installed members decided on a Tuesday meeting night, and the second Tuesday of each month was decided. So on Tuesday, January 14, 2003, at P.K. O'Ryan's Irish Restaurant & Pub in Worthington, Ohio the election of Charter officers was conducted.

The Division2 AOH Charter was presented to President Jamie Gaffney at the 2003 Biennial Ohio State Convention in Dublin, Ohio in July 2003 by National President Ned McGinley, National Vice President Jack Meehan, National Director Gerry Curran, and National Catholic Action Chair Kevin Talty. Also present were Immediate Past Ohio State President Dan MacDonald and newly elected President Tom O'Mahoney.

The Division held its first fundraiser on November 21, 2003. The Hooligan's, a local Irish rebel band performed for the crowd. The event raised some $1300.00 . In the end the money was donated to St Michael Catholic Church in Worthington, Ohio to help with their renovation project on the church.

In 2004, specifically on February 11th, the Fr William Corby Division 2 was born. After many months of the Division Historian Gerry Curran reading biographical material on as many as 120 possible namesakes, the Division voted on the name of
Fr William Corby as its namesake. The exhaustive process was an excellent exercise in Irish history.

The Divison set out on its second year and developed a social calendar. It included a Lunch Bunch and Family Night Out. The Lunch Bunch meets every Thursday for lunch. The Family Night Out is designed to included the wives and families of each member. It's held the 2nd Wednesday each month. Both events were designed for a more social atmosphere and to build a fraternal bond with the brothers and their families.

A day at the Pontifical College Josephinum was held on Sunday, October 31, 2004. The Division had 30 members, family members and friends attend a full day of activities at the Josephinum. Events included mass, lunch and tours of the only Pontifical College Seminary outside of Rome, Italy.

January 2005 marked the Divison's first Commodore John Barry Award in its short history.  Brother Jamie Gaffney was honored. The John Barry Award is given to a member in recognition of thier service, dedication and continued commitment to the AOH, and the Fr William Corby Division.

The Corby Division continues to strive to have socially meaningful events for its members. In the same vein as Family Night Out, A Pot Luck dinnerwas held in honor of a retiring member who was moving back to his home state of Maine,  Bob Sulliavn and his wife Mary  were overwhelmed with  the kindness of the Divison. The Divison also had a Cleveland Indians Bustrip on August 21, 2005 in which 30 members and guests had a great time watching the Indians beat the Orioles..
