I did this for Prongs1 on fanfiction.net. I don't really think it's too difficult to analyze this pic but I'm going to explain anyways. The silver/grey snake is obviously for Slytherin however, I chose red for the M because it represents the blood on the Malfoy family's hands. I suppose that could be open to debate. Also, you'll have to excuse the rigidness in the cloak/robe because I was just learning how to draw fabric. I assure you I've gotten better.
