An Autobiographical Essay about the circus that is the Reuter Family. Written in the form of a TV script (because our life combines all the mystic of a National Geographic Wildlife documentary with the random humor of an episode of Seinfeld).
Lawry is not only a professor of painting, but a professor of the art of life. He knows almost knows
me better than most of my closest friends do. This letter, one of the countless that I have written to
him, was written last May and describes my recent bout of painter's block- something which I still
suffer from today.
Written to a favorite music professor of mine, I began writing this narrative in an attempt to explain how a certain lecture of his caused me not only to rethink what I was presently doing with my life, but ultimately made me realize how I came to be the person that I am. When I finally stopped writing, the letter turned out to be more important for ME to read than it was for my professor, because in the end, I turned out to be my OWN hero.
