THE HUMMINGBIRD

Hummingbird photo

The Hummingbird should have been named "Dive Bomber" because it is notorious for dive bombing hunters and fishermen who are quietly minding their own business.

The Hummingbird sounds like a P-38 as it roars down to spit at any intruder encroaching into its territory then soars away into the sun. Despite being the size of a moth, hummingbirds are not the least bit intimidated by the size of an intruder - man or grizzly!

Like a giraffe, hummingbirds have an very long, agile tongue which can lap up the nectar other creatures miss. Different kinds of hummingbirds spend their summers at Fort Apache where there are many blossoms they like completely uncontaminated by pesticides and industrial pollution.

In a few seconds, you will automatically see more photos of birds fortunate enough to visit, or live, on Fort Apache Indian Reservation, Arizona!
