Another season is upon us, and there are so many things that have happened and are being proposed, that I dont know where to start. I guess the most important one at this moment concerns our Newsletter. As I mentioned in the May newsletter, with the Dogwood Pavilion withdrawing their support to allow us to have our newsletter printed by the City of Coquitlam, we have had to explore other options. I am at present negotiating with Staples to see what they can do for us and as well, we have had a couple of other offers.
Another interesting option which Bob has come up would involve those members who have access to the internet and also have an email address. Bob would configure our newsletter so that it could either be emailed to you or could be downloaded and printed from the internet. Not only would this save us the cost of printing, but also the cost of  mailing the newsletter. We are extremely interested in hearing from those members who fall into this category as to what your feeling is on this matter, and whether you would be interested in getting involved in an experiment to see if this is a viable alternative. For those who would be willing to help us out, please contact either myself or Bob Doerksen and let us know how you feel.
At our last executive meeting in June, we discussed at some length about possibly changing the name of our Chapter. The reasoning behind this is that since the Chapter has been formed, we have expanded to the point where we are responsible for persons living in 10 different municipalities. In order to signify to outsiders just what areas we do cover, we felt that the name FRASER DISTRICT CHAPTER of the UOAC Inc., was a little more indicative of what were all about. Once more we would like some input from you the members. If any of you feel that this is not an appropriate name and have other suggestions, dont be shy, please contact any of your executive and let them know how you feel. We would like to get this name business settled within the next couple of months, so Im afraid we are going to have to put a deadline of October 31st for any input. After that its a closed subject.
The other change that we decided on, was that due to the problems we have been having with conflict of interests on our regular meeting dates, (e.g. Grey Cup, Super Bowl, World Series etc.) we have decided to change our meeting dates to the THIRD SUNDAY OF EACH MONTH, except for May (I think) which will probably be on the 25th. Youll be notified in lots of time in any case.
Once more we are going to start the season off with a big bang hopefully, by holding our usual Wine and Cheese Social for all the members and their significant others. As per usual, it will be held at my residence, 1252 Benneck Way, Port Coquitlam (604-464-1960). For those of you who are new to the Chapter, thats in Citadel Heights. Go north on Shaughnessy off Mary Hill By-pass, right on Eastern, Right on Fletcher and left on Benneck Way. Time is 1:30 pm and the date is Sunday, September 22nd. Hope to see a good turnout.
