| Random Thoughts from the Chair |
| To all of those who attended our wine and cheese, I do hope you enjoyed yourselves, especially the new Ostomates. We always seem to have a good time at these functions regardless of the numbers, probably because everyone seems to be so relaxed. I must sincerely apologize for taking up so much time with all the operational junk, but it was something that had to be done. Things are changing so fast, that I have a very hard time keeping up with it all, especially with me doing two jobs. The decision was made to increase our dues, both Regular Membership and Associate Membership. After reviewing the BOD minutes from the Halifax Conference where they decided that they would not increase the UOAC membership dues until 2003, I have decided to hold off on any increases until January 1st, 2003. This means that those of you who are on the first half list will be charged the same price ($30.00) as those who renewed in the spring. More to follow in the November news letter. As you are all aware by now, we are having our News Letter printed commercially. The cost to us is just under $100.00 taxes included, and the mailing costs are just over $100.00. Thats about as close to $200.00 per month as you can come. We are looking at ways of cutting this expense but still provide the service level that we feel is required. This is not an easy task, and we are open to any ideas that may be floating around out there. Please, if you have any suggestions, dont hesitate the let one or your executive hear them. We are desperate. From the discussions that went on at our wine & cheese, our meeting structure may change somewhat in the new year as well. There are still a few loose ends to sort out, so until then we will carry on as usual with Octobers meeting in Langley and November's meeting in Coquitlam.. There will also be more on this in the November issue. The consensus of opinion as regards our Chapters name change, seemed to be in favour of FRASER DISTRICT CHAPTER of the UOAC Inc. Unless I hear anything different, come November I will try to figure out just how we are going to go about accomplishing this task. When CCRA are involved, nothing is easy and straightforward. Our next meeting this year will be held at Jessica Farms, 21488 76th Ave., Langley BC at 1:30 pm SHARP, Sunday October 20th. Ken has promised to have an interesting program available. So, until then - CHEERS ALL JIM |
