Random Thoughts from the Chair
To those who attended our wine and cheese, I do hope you enjoyed yourselves, especially the new Ostomates. We always seem to have a good time at these functions regardless of the numbers, probably because everyone seems to be so relaxed.
To those of you who have the Disability Tax Credit, all I can say is to enjoy it while you can. As the say in Government circles, "The tax man giveth, and the tax man taketh away". I received a form in the mail a few weeks ago advising me that they were reviewing my status for the DTC. Included was a copy of the new form T2201. Everything is great until you get to the bottom of page 3, and then the roof caves in. They have changed the qualifications and it all boils down to 6 words,"WITH THE AID OF A DEVICE ". There isn't a Doctor in the world that will say YES to that one because they send him/her a 6-page questionaire in response. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
No calls yet on the plea for help with the meetings. I guess maybe we're just going to have start making phone calls to all the members and see how that works out. It's unfortunate that we can't get people who are willing to step forward and help out, but I guess that's life.
We are still working on the 20/40 club, but I don't anticipate anything happening until early in 2002. Right now Ken's really busy trying to get prepared for the BOD meeting on October 27th, and I'm trying to tie all the loose ends of our conference. We haven't forgotten, we just haven't time to deal with it to date. Right now our first priority is trying to get the Satellite established in White Rock.
Our next meeting this year will be in the Annex at Surrey Memorial Hospital. We are going to be introduced to the finer points of Thai Chi by Sharon & Bob. So wear some comfortable clothes and come prepared to laugh and have some fun. Remember; Annex, Surrey Memorial, Sunday October 28th, 1:30 PM SHARP.

Why do they put pictures of criminals up in the Post Office? What are we supposed to do... write to these men? Why don't they put their pictures on the postage stamps so the mail carriers could look for them while they delivered the mail?
