| Its not the greatest diner. Their chicken soup is the water they boil their eggs in... |
| I would like to thank four very special ladies who, in spite of me sending out over two dozen personal invitations, were the only ones to show up at the February meeting in White Rock and who were willing to stand up and be counted. These ladies are Gail Williams, Betty McEwan, Nora Conroy and Sylvia Leslie. Because they agreed to let their names be used as the leaders of the Satellite, we were able to process the paper work in order to establish the Satellite. I don't know what happened to all the rest of those Ostomates in the area who were soooo keen on establishing this Satellite, but you all owe a large debt of gratitude, not only to these four ladies, but also to Elaine Antifaev of ET Resources who arranged for a meeting place at her office AT NO COST TO US. Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed by all the "no shows" for this meeting. I guess all we can hope for is that a little more enthusiasm is shown by the Ostomates in the area in getting involved with this group in the future. On a much happier note, I wish to thank all those members who have been so generous with their donations over the past year. As a result of your generosity, we are able to Sponsor a young Ostomate from BC, Aaron Abels (12 years old) who will be able to attend this years Youth Camp. It is because of you people that we are able to perform this very important function of our mandate. Our 20/40 group are progressing very nicely. They have settled on a new name for the group, namely, Young Adult 20/40 Ostomate Group and will be established as a Satellite of the Coquitlam Chapter for now. The paper work has been completed and is in the process of being forwarded to UOAC for final approval. They are holding their first independent meeting on Sunday, March 24th at 2:00 pm at Jenny Robulack's Condo Complex. The address is #204 - 1590 West 1st Ave., Vancouver BC. and Jenny informs me the access code for her suite on the front door bell, is #14. For those who are interested in this meeting and want further information, please call Jenny at 604-734-3272 or email - [email protected]. Sandra Dunbar is in the process of establishing a Visitor's Training Team to go to various areas and train those members who are interested in getting involved in the Visiting Program. At present it looks like we will be having one session in June and then possibly two more in the fall. Actual dates have not been established as of yet, but anyone who is interested in this program should contact Sandra at 604-942-1495 , or email - [email protected]. Hopefully Mother Nature will co-operate with our meeting plans this month and we'll be able to have it at Jessoma Farms in Langley. The address is 21488 - 76 Ave., Langley. If you look at page 3 of your January newsletter, you'll see the map of the area. I understand it's a great place and has all kinds of room for our meetings. Hope to see a good turnout there. Remember, Sunday, March 24th 1:30 pm, Jessoma Farms. CHEERS ALL JIM |
