Once more it is renewal time for those members who are on the 2nd half list. You should be receiving your renewal notices directly from UOAC with instructions as to where to send your cheque for the dues. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, when you do receive your notice forward your monies as soon as possible. If you are late sending in you dues, then the renewal forms get to UOAC too late, and we do not get credit for the actual number of members we have. This is extremely important when it comes to the National Council meeting at the conference, as our number of votes is conditional on the number of members we have registered in early June. So once again, PLEASE make sure that you get you renewal form and monies in on time. For those of you who registered early (4 members at last count) ignore the renewal notice.
We were able to hold our March meeting at Jessoma Farms, and for those of you who couldn't make it, the facilities are phenomenal. The only problem is that you have to make sure that you go to the right Jessoma Farm, as there is also one on 72nd Ave. as well. As a matter of fact, we are all ready making plans to hold our final meeting and picnic on May 26th at the farm, RAIN OR SHINE. Everyone and their families, significant others etc. are invited to attend. In order to have some idea of how many persons will be in attendance, we would like all those planning on being there to contact either Ken or myself via phone or email no later that May 15th. Each family is responsible for their own food and beverage and there will be a barbecue available for our use.
You will notice on the front of the newsletter, that our FUND RAISING position on the Board is vacant. Unfortunately this is one part of our operation that has been neglected over the past year, and, due to some possible changes that may be thrust upon us, is going to have to be revived. I would appreciate it if every member, over the next few months, thought about ways to raise funds for the Chapter. If we don't do this and things develop the way I think they may, there is a possibility we may have to raise the dues, and I really don't want to have to do that if at all possible. We will be discussing this topic at the next few meetings.
Our Visitors Training Program is still progressing nicely except for the fact that we haven't received a lot of names of persons interested in this most important function of our Chapter. Just remember how you felt when someone came too visit you and how the Chapter helps you in any small way. It is now time to give something back to enable us to help those who are will be our fellow Ostomates in the future. If you're interested, please contact Sandra and let her know. I know she'll be happy to hear from you.
Remember our meeting this month on Sunday April 28th, 1:15 PM, Dogwood Pavilion in Coquitlam, where Andy Manson will be talking to us about various types of Ostomies etc. Until then:
