The winter of 2004 was defnitely tenacious. We had a lot of snow and it started early in the year. Then March came along and teased us with balmy weather...the crocus came out, snowdrops abounded and the robins were back in town. Well, Mother Nature was having none of that!! She wanted to remind us that it was still winter, so before spring truly arrived, we got another coating of the white stuff.

This is the hill behind our house on the morning of March 10. 2004. The trees were all snow and ice-covered, making it look like a fairyland, or actually more like an Ansel Adams print.
The sun was just coming over the far trees and struck the ice on the hilltop.

Goes to show you how strong the sun was that day...this was the marsh out behind my office building, just as the sun was going down. No sign whatsoever that there'd ever been snow that day!
March 15, 2004 Bob decided to go out and enjoy the balmy, sun-drenched weather. I caught this shot of him while down at crocus-level.
Lots of the little harbingers of spring were popping up. These were from my grandmother and have been coming up in that same spot for as long as I can remember. I really love that you can get so close to flowers with the macro setting on this camera. You can get within an inch and get a clear, sharp shot. Amazing.
Bob thought they were quite pretty as well!
March 16, 2004 Well, so much for spring! The next day we got a 6" coating of snow. NOOOO!
Bailey and Max enjoyed playing out in it. Max looks a bit puzzled, though (right), probably wondering where all the green grass went to!
