Renaissance
Faires!!!
Either you get them or you don't!
Hopefully, those who don't will one day come to learn of the joys of
Renaissance Faires, or Ren Fests, as they're often abbreviated.
Yes,
I love to spend my weekends strapped into a bodice or corset that
forcibly reshapes my figure and hinders my movement, long skirts to
the ground that hide my legs, hot leather boots and a big grey hat
while running about in the burning sun, cold rain, or even snow,
shouting "Huzzah!" eating food that is absolutely horrible
for me, watching men in kilts do extraordinary things, and listening
to bards sing songs that either tried to die out hundreds of years
ago or that only a few thousand people in the world likely know the
words to.
Oh, but it's fun!!!!!!!
You should try it! Don't believe me? Look at
the pictures below and look at how much fun we're all having!
Or, follow some of the links at the bottom of the page to see some of
my favorite faire related sites and shops! Come on, give it a
try. It's not as if it's addicting or anything...
*hastily
shoving the large garb box and other travel detritus under the bed or
in the closet*
I dare you!
My
Travels!
I've
been going to faires since I was very young. My parents took
me, and it was one of my favorite yearly outings. My first
faire was MNRF
(Minnesota) but we moved when I was 13 so I didn't get to go to it
anymore. I remember it being pretty good.
When we got to
Charlotte, we went to CRF
every year until I graduated High School. When I got to
college, I started going on my own.
This year, I've also begun
traveling to other faires. While a little expensive and hard on
the body I think its so much fun I doubt I'll ever stop!
