Are you tired of mainstream political parties too extreme to represent the views of any except the most narrow minded? Are you tired of approaching the ballot box every four years with the knowledge that you’ll have to choose between two platforms that you don’t agree with? Are you desperately searching for the rest of the “silent majority”?
You’re not alone. We’re searching too — searching for people just like you. No longer must we quietly tolerate the conservative blowhards and the liberal blowhards. We’ve assembled some of the finest moderate minds in the nation — frustrated but unheard blowhards in their own rights — to design the platform for the Moderate Blowhard Party. Starting today, the silent majority will be silent no longer — and this is only just the beginning.
We’ve left no major issue unexamined, no moderate opinion unstated. We guarantee that our platform is a platform that all of America can support — not just the elite extremists of the empowered hegemony. If you’re dissatisfied with the leadership in Washington today, then we might be able to provide the answers you’ve been looking for. If you are somehow satisfied, then we may be able to offer you a different perspective. And if you’re already part of the problem, then we can give you a glimpse of what the solution will be.
Whoever you are — read on and hear the roar of the silent majority. If you are interested in learning more about the party or if you would like to know more about how to become involved in your community, contact the webmaster at [email protected].
With reports of violence increasing in recent years — especially disturbing statistics about violence among children — gun control has become one of the new hot-button issues. The Constitution denies Congress the ability to revoke the rights of Americans to bear arms, but it’s true that circumstances exist today that could not have been foreseen by the Founding Fathers. Well-ordered militias have been replaced by our efficient and extensive armed forces. Meanwhile, advances in technology have allowed manufacturers to create weapons that far surpass the muskets and rifles of the eighteenth century. What is the solution to this tangle of a problem?
The Moderate Blowhard Party refuses to ignore the gun control issue. Likewise, we refuse to marginalize any of the concerns of interested parties — including parents, teachers, law enforcement officers, hunters, recreational gun users, and homeowners. Our platform strongly advocates eliminating the threat of gun-related violence — especially among young people — without abridging or revoking the rights of law-abiding citizens. We propose to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and violent persons, while strenuously defending the free exercise of all Constitutional rights.
The United States remains the only western nation to allow its courts to assign capital punishment in serious cases. It serves as a significant deterrent to violent crime and continues to be an important weapon in the fight to enforce the nation’s laws — however, too many innocent persons have been executed since capital punishment has been reinstated, and the system continues to discriminate against minority groups. It is clear that the United States must act as a leader in setting policy concerning capital punishment.
The Moderate Blowhard Party upholds the Constitutional ban on cruel and unusual punishments and deplores the preventable deaths of those wrongly convicted of violent crimes. Our platform calls for equitable administration of capital punishment is such crimes for which it is appropriate, while demanding necessary safeguards to ensure that the institution is not wrongly administered or abused.
The United States is a country built on the hard work of immigrants. History shows us that Americans of all times were afraid or apprehensive of the new immigrant groups that seemed to flood the cities — our time is no different. Yet, the problems of immigration are not quite the same as they always have been. America is no longer seen as a homogenizing “melting pot,” but rather as a diverse “mixing bowl” where all cultures can feel welcome. At the same time, native born Americans often feel their own culture is being squeezed out in favor of those of the new arrivals.
The Moderate Blowhard Party believes that immigrants continue to serve as an important source of innovation, skill, and talent for the United States. New arrivals to the country should be made to feel at home and should not be expected to compromise their culture or heritage — at the same time, the unique homespun culture of America herself should be preserved for future generations to enjoy. Jobs and resources should be fairly distributed among all residents of the United States — citizen or alien, native born or immigrant — so that none feel neglected or underrepresented.
The United States is almost unique among nations as far as the diversity of our natural resources and treasures goes. Our environment has simultaneously fueled an industrial revolution of unprecedented scale and given the gifts of joy and wonder to countless people who have experienced the splendor and beauty of untamed America.
Often it seems like protecting the environment and promoting business are mutually exclusive goals, but the Moderate Blowhard Party completely disagrees. Our platform favors issuing federal regulations that achieve both ends — saving our natural resources for the use and enjoyment of future generations without hampering the progress of our national industrial base. After all, both our wilderness and our industry have made this country rich in different — but equally important — ways.
There is no doubt that there are too many abortions performed in this nation. It is always a tragedy when any pregnancy is unwanted — and a double tragedy when such pregnancies are prematurely terminated. However, abortion remains an important part of women’s reproductive rights and is sometimes the most utilitarian solution. High emotion on both sides of the issue has often prevented pro-life and pro-choice groups from seeing the whole picture. We firmly believe that as long as the “dialogue” continues to be a shouting match, no answer will be found.
The platform of the Moderate Blowhard Party calls for the immediate passage of laws that will protect the lives of unborn children while affirming the reproductive rights of women. Simply blaming women for their unwanted pregnancies ignores the issue and offers no real solution. Likewise, the politicization of abortion has obscured the real importance of the debate as an issue of life. The government must act as quickly as possible to protect and defend the rights both of women and unborn children.
The Moderate Blowhard Party opposes unemployment among the nation’s workers and proposes that good jobs for all working Americans should be created as quickly as possible. Fair wages and good terms of employment are the backbone of a healthy economy.
