I focused my Technology Portfolio on the fourth grade curriculum from the
North Carolina Standard Course of Study. I decided to focus on the
fourth grade curriculum because I will be completing my final internship
in a fourth grade classroom at East Franklin Elementary School.
I believe that technology is a tool that will help me to better guide my
students’ understanding of the entirety of the North Carolina fourth grade
curriculum. I hope that by integrating technology within my curriculum
that I will capture the interests of my students while captivating and
enlightening their minds. Not only is technology a tool that better
allows me to organize and strengthen my curriculum, technology will open
up the future and enhance my students’ learning processes.
I believe that this portfolio will demonstrate my knowledge of the North
Carolina Advanced Competencies for the technology portfolio requirements.
As I hope to be teaching within the upper levels of elementary education,
the lesson plans I have developed are developmentally appropriate for grades
four through six with some minuscule changes on my part.
I further believe that choices are important for my students. I hope
to cultivate their interests and ideas within the classroom. I believe
by doing so will help my students to retain information while also allowing
them to make important prior connections to previously learned material
and experiences. Furthermore, choices allow students to develop an
independence, which becomes a worthwhile life skill.
