Smashin' The Fraction Fear Video
To create this video, I enlisted the help of my daughter and one of her friends. I chose to use them because I felt that the students in my room would connect better to someone close to their own ages rather than just watching me talk. Furthermore, I wanted the students to see how fractions do exist in their everyday lives, which will allow them to understand why we study fractions to begin with.
Fractions and All Their Parts: Part I, II, III
As these videos use animation, I feel that they will capture my students' attention. In addition, I feel that these videos will give the students valuable information they will need during the course of study concerning the area of fractions. I like the way that these videos use "real-life" concepts, which will help the students with making important connections to their prior knowledge on fractions. I want to use questions from the video in order to assess what my students observed and understood while watching this information on fractions. It will give me pertinent information on any follow up I may need to do during my teaching as well as help with my planning.
