Children of the Holocaust
I plan to use the book Number the
Stars in a literature circle with my students. I will show
the video Children of the Holocaust as well in order to give my students
an auditory and visual connection. I think that both of these items
correspond well to our state curriculum for social studies.
Interview with Gary Paulson
In my experience, children love
the author Gary Paulson. I think that by incorporating the real lives
of "real" authors within my teaching, I will help my students make important
connections to their own writing. Authors and their writing will
also help to generate topics for the writing workshop that I plan to incorporate
within my classroom. I want the students to understand that writers
think about their writing as well as live everyday lives just as the students
do. This connection will allow my students to
understand that they can be writers
too!
