I was amazed at how well the students
did with this lesson–particularly with the reteaching of the lesson to
a partner. By reteaching the lesson, the students received a chance
to reflect on what they learned and understood about immigrants and spreadsheets.
In addition, students who sometimes struggle gained a great sense of success
and accomplishment, as they became the teachers who demonstrated knowledge
of a computer program. Furthermore, this lesson allowed students
to experience the patience that it takes to teach others.
