4. Diane brought a bag of jelly beans. The bag contained a total of 21 jelly beans. Five of the jelly beans were orange. Eight of the jelly beans were yellow. Three of the jelly beans were purple. Five of the jelly beans were green.  Tell what fractional part each color of the jelly beans represents. Then tell me which of the fractional parts are the numerator and denominator. You must also give an explanation as to why.

5.     Write an addition or a subtraction sentence for each drawing.

7. You baked a pie and cut it into 8 pieces.  After dinner your family ate 3/8 of the
pie.  Later some friends came over, and they ate 4/8 of the pie.  How much of the
pie was eaten?
8. J.D walked a total of 3/4 miles to and from school each day. How far did he walk to and from school in 5 days?
9. River High School has 75 members in its band. There are 35 seniors, 25 juniors, and 15 sophomores in the band. What fraction of the band are juniors?
10. You have four eggs left in your egg carton. What fractional part of the eggs is  left? What would be an equivalent fraction for this amount of eggs? Draw a  picture to explain your answer.
11. Sam bakes a cake for a party which twelve people are coming to. He cuts  the cake into twelve pieces. His aunt comes to the party, and she brings a cake too.  However, she thought the party was only for six people, and she cut her cake into six pieces. They tell you that you can have a piece of either cake, but not both.  Which cake would you choose from in order to get the biggest piece? Explain why and draw a picture to explain your reasoning.
12. Demonstrate your understanding of the following fractions by coloring the boxes to show each fraction.

13. Take the circles and  squares that you have been provided with. Cut them out.  Fold one circle in half and color it to show 1/2.    Take one square and fold it in half and color it to show 1/2.  Take the second circle and fold it and color it to show ¾.  Do the same thing with the second square.  Take the third circle and fold it and color it to show 5/8ths.  Do the same with the third square.
 
14. Draw a rectangle.  Divide the rectangle up to show the fractions 6/6, 1/2, 1/3,  1/6.

 
15. For snack you bring some brownies for you and your three friends. When you open the containers, you find that your mom packed 10 brownies. How will divide these 10 brownies evenly for you and your three friends? Use the squares provided for you to decide your answer. Then draw a picture of what you figured out for your answer.  Can you name the fractional part? (Remember you only have 10 brownies).

18. Henry and Susan both bought ne jump ropes.  Henry's jump rope was 1 1/4 feet long.  Susan's jump rope ws 1 2/4 feet long.  How much longer was Susan's rope than Henry's jump rope?

3. If you have 2 half notes how many eighth notes would you have?
 

4. How many quarter notes would be in one half note and 4 eight notes?
 

5. You are going to write music for the drummer of the band. You can only have 4 beats per each measure of the song. Each measure will be divided by a line. The first one is done for you. Write a short song below which you can play
