DYLAN
I'm a Twinkie addict, I know. But I'm just not ready to give up my addiction.
Reggie stands as well.
REGGIE
You feed your addiction. I'm going to bed.
(pause)
Don't leave the wrappers scattered about again. It's like a trail of twinkie wrappers from the kitchen to your room.
INT. REGGIE'S BEDROOM
Two A.M. Reggie sleeps peacefully beneath her covers in the dimly lit room. We hear low, muffled voices from another room. There's a moment of silence. We hear a loud clunk from the next bedroom. Reggie suddenly wakes with disorientation and looks around. There's another clunk from next door. Reggie gasps and jumps from her bed. We hear Dylan suddenly cry out in terror and possible agony. Reggie runs from her room.
INT. HALLWAY
Reggie slides before Dylan's bedroom and attempts to open the door. It's locked. We hear Dylan's cries. The sound is horrifying. Reggie pounds on the door.
REGGIE
Dylan! Dylan, open up! What's happening? Are you okay?
Dylan continues to cry out. We hear loud thumps and crashes associated with a wild struggle. Reggie appears alarmed. She begins ramming her shoulder into the door. It doesn't budge. Reggie steps back as Dylan's scream fades. She kicks the door inward with one violent thrust.
INT. DYLAN'S ROOM
Reggie appears in the open doorway. A look of horror sweeps over her. She suddenly screams. Reggie's POV. We see the trashed room with broken objects and over-turned furniture. The bed is covered with blood. There's blood on the floor and surrounding the broken window. We see a bloody twinkie lying on the nightstand.
EXT. PORCH -- EVENING
One month later. We see Reggie sitting on the porch. She stares blankly toward the woods and spins the opal ring on her finger. A car pulls up to the house. Sheriff Martin gets out and walks onto the porch with a tiny, pleasant smile.
MARTIN
Evening, Reggie.
Reggie attempts a smile.
REGGIE
Hey, Sheriff.
Reggie uncomfortably shifts in her chair.
REGGIE
Anymore leads on my brother's murder?
Martin casually sits on the railing facing her.
MARTIN
No, Reggie. I'm sorry.
(hesitates)
Are you sure it was murder?
REGGIE
(surprise)
You saw the blood and the condition of his room. What more do you need?
MARTIN
I'm sorry, Reggie. I know you're dealing with this the best that you can.
(pause)
But we never found his body.
REGGIE
You saw the blood. He couldn't have survived that sort of attack.
MARTIN
I know, but you broke into the room only seconds after the attack ended. The killer wouldn't have had time to remove the body--especially from the second story window.
Reggie appears surprised.
REGGIE
What are you implying? |
