RAVEN
I doubt there's anything I could do to lower the integrity of your little dinner party, Koon.
Reggie continues to study Raven with great interest. She appears to be plotting something.
KOON
I really wish you'd mind your own business, stop insulting my guests, and go home.
Raven again meets Reggie's gaze and stares at her a moment longer.
RAVEN
Something you'd like to add, my dear?
Reggie stares at him a moment in silence. Raven stares back, raises a brow, and smirks.
RAVEN
Somehow, I didn't think so.
Raven looks back to Koon to continue their strange discussion.
REGGIE
Your brother is a liar and a cheat.
Raven suddenly looks back at her with a somewhat surprised expression. Koon tenses then smirks. All eyes, including Chrissy's are on Reggie. All appear stunned. Raven stares at Reggie a moment then smirks.
RAVEN
Tell me something I don't know.
KOON
(firm)
She's just upset about losing our little wager this evening.
Reggie glares at Koon with a hostile expression.
REGGIE
I didn't lose anything. You changed the rules, because you're a sore loser. I beat you.
Raven appears interested and eyes Koon.
RAVEN
Is that true? You were beaten at your own game--by a woman?
KOON
She didn't beat me. She didn't abide by the rules.
Raven suddenly chuckles lowly.
RAVEN
No one can play and win by your rules.
Koon appears insulted and embarrassed in front of his guests. Chrissy glares at Koon from across the table. There's something strange in her expression. The guests at the table suddenly begin to gasp and choke. Reggie looks to the other guests. Only Chrissy, Koon, and Raven aren't affected. Koon eyes his gasping and choking guests. He glares back at Raven with certain annoyance.
KOON
You're making me miss my favorite part of the evening.
RAVEN
You are pathetic.
Reggie continues to watch the other guests with some concern. Chrissy just sips her wine and doesn't appear interested. Koon nods to Belamy. He approaches and removes the lids from the serving trays. We see mounds of live maggots, leaches, assorted worms, and other various creatures. Reggie appears horrified. The other guests no longer choke and appear equally horrified. Chrissy minds her own business and sips her wine.
KOON
I don't mean to be rude, brother dear, but I have guests for dinner.
RAVEN
She's right, you know. You've always been a sore loser.
(pause)
Must really chafe you to be outwitted by a woman.
KOON
(firm)
She didn't outwit me.
Reggie appears to busy watching the guests and the serving trays to participate in the conversation. The six other guests breathe heavily and stare at the banquet before them with looks of horror. |
