These are just a small selection of my paintings.  I hope you enjoy them.
"Festive Road" inspired by MR BENN from my childhood days and a street local to me.

Courtesy of Mr R Monti watercolour on paper 16" x 22"
"Trethevey Quoit" Cornwall.
This was a departure fopr me into feeling a subject rather than copying it.  One that I feel was very succesful..
Watercolour on paper 14" x 10" Dec 2002  courtesy Mr C Cope
'Bridge Street, Cambridge'
A slight change in style for me, emphasising the brushwork in acrylic.  This painting was inspired by a street in Cambridge and i wanted the 'feel' of a wet late autumn afternoon.
10" x 9" acrylic on board November 2002
"mini cooper" watercolour 7"x 5"
(courtesy Mr Steve Haynes)
Artistic interpretations
These are just a few of the paintings that have caught my eye enough to 'have a go' and try to interpret them.  I find this an invaluable learning method, similar to the old Academy painting method in 18th and 19th century France.
"After Monet-The beach at Trouville", 14" x 10" acrylic
courtesy Mrs M Denham
The more I use acrylics, the more I like them.  I love the way you can manipulate the paint on the paper withfingers, knives, brushes in fact anything!
"After Monet Red Mullet"
acrylic  14" x 10" February  2001
"After Monet Towing a boat-Honfleur"
acrylic  14" x 10" June 2001

I love the way Monet captured the light in his painting and the 'surprise' of the emerging village on the headland. I think Monet would 'spin' to see what I have done to his painting but I enjoyed painting this immensely, especially as it is not one of his well known works.
All three of these paintings were taken from 'teach yourself' books.  I found this incredibly rewarding when starting out because my lack of inspiration and inexperience in composition gave disappointing results that could have resulted in me giving up painting.
"Still life with Poppies"
Taken From John Lidzey's book 'Light in Watercolour' from the excellent Collins series "Learn to Paint".  Highly recommended to the beginner and 'artistically' stuck alike.  I am pleased with the result I achieved in this painting.  The freedom I found using lots of water really helped my watercolour technique.
Watercolour on Paper
16" x 20" August 2001.
"Cornish Estuary" 14"x 10" watercolour on paper  1999
copied from a book by Ray Campbell Smith
This "Kentish Farm" was inspired by the painting in one of Ray Campbell-Smith's books. Watercolour 14" x 10"
