EVENT INFO

AWARDS DINNER

St. Thomas Flightlines annual awards dinner is held at the New Sarum Diner with drinks at 6 P.M. and dinner at 7 P.M. followed by awards and election of the new executive. Our awards dinner is different than most due to the fact that we give out awards for mediocrity during any aspect of your flying career. If you slip up during the past year we hear about it and yes you may get an award. All welcome.

AIR RALLY

""The St.Thomas Flightline Air Rally has grown in each of its' previous ten years operation to where this years event is expected to attract 30+ aircraft and crew. With many quality prizes up for grabs, the chances of a prize winning day are very good. Each crew will be given written instructions, some photo clues and subtle hints on how to arrive at their destination and what to look out for on their way.Aircraft will be spaced at not less than two minute intervals for safety sake and London Air Traffic Control and Flight Service will be advised in advance of the flight route and volume of traffic to avoid any potential conflicts. There are no stunts or high skill level elements in this event other than good airmanship. The per aircraft entry fee of $20.00 covers competitors for pre-flight coffee and donuts and an after event bar.b.cue lunch. Come on out - just for the fun of it ! ! ! This years rally will be on April 29th with a rain date of May 6th.

YOUNG EAGLES DAY

Our Young Eagles day this year will be held on June 10th and we expect over 100 local youth to be taken for their first ever flight. The youth get to have an airplane ride and are then treated to a BBQ.lunch back on the ground. We are expecting 8 - 10 aircraft and pilots to be on hand and a good time to be had by all. This event is open to any youth between the ages of 8 and 17,they need only show up at the St. Thomas airport between 9 A.M. and 12 noon with an adult to sign a waiver for their participation.Flights will be on a first come first serve basis.Hope to see you there.

FLY IN BREAKFAST

Probably the biggest plate of breakfast you can buy in Ontario for $6.OO. Well attended by at least 200 non-flyers, plus up to 100 aircraft and crew, this event is held in conjunction with a drive-in display of antique vehicles from the local chapter of the Heritage Automobile Society of Canada and regularly features a good selection of older classic aircraft and special homebuilts.Last year's event attracted 525 hungry people. There are several areas of St. Thomas Airport where taildragger pilots may make grass landings at their own discretion. (Call for info 519-633-5866). Welcome to the Banana Belt of Southern Ontario. Enjoy soft music, flowers on your table and good company. Our breakfast this year will be held on September 10th from 8 A.M. till noon. This year (weather permitting) the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum's flying Lancaster will arrive and be on static display.Hope to see you there.
