Student Council Activities
< ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
This page is dedicated to help the members of the University of Florida College of Pharmacy Orlando Campus Student Council run its operations smoothly.
Go Gators!
Here are some useful links:
So there are only a couple of things that our Orlando campus Student Council is responsible for...

* Re-register our student council every Fall to ensure that we could submit a budget. ( I have listed the steps below)

*
Submitting a budget - generally, you submit a budget requesting funds for the following year.

* Holiday party (look below)

* End of the Year Luau (look below)

*
Orlando campus E-letter - The Capsule

* and of course to make sure our students are satisfied. Be creative.

Re-registering an organization with the SAC, in this case the Orlando Campus Student Council:
First of all, it is important to remember to re-register our campus student council every Fall with the Student Activities Center (SAC). They have a form that you have to fill out and fax back to them.

* Call them at 352-392-1671 and tell them that you are one of the satellite campuses and request the form to re-register a student organization to be faxed to you.

* After they approve of your form, they will send you a confirmation via the email that you have given them.

* After the confirmation you must go to the SAC website (the 4th link on the right), click on organizations, login and change to the new members if there is a change in members.

This registeration process is required before student council could submit a budget to get money. (For other organizations, such as ASP, FSHP, who do not request money directly from UF Student Council, you don't have to register your organization. It's just formality that you do but it won't hurt if you don't.)
The Holiday Party & the End of the Year Luau are handled similarly...
The main differences between the Holiday Party and the Luau are time of the year and location.
Holiday Party
End of the Year Luau
* This occurs in December, preferably the night of the last final or the night after that when most of the students are still in town.

* Link the party to a charitable cause. In the past we've asked attendees to bring toys in for a Toys for Tots drive as part of their admission fee. This charitable link will help you to find a potential sponsor.

* Choose a location. We have reserved/rented a section bars for previous events. Typically, a sponsor would pay for some finger foods and maybe a drink or two. IF there is no sponsor, we'd have to charge a cover fee that would cover some drinks and the rental. One time we charged $25 per person - that included drinks and food.

* Finding a sponsor: Submit letters with UF letterheard to potential sponsors requesting their financial input.

*Send a thank you letter to your sponsor.
* The Luau occurs at the end of the Spring semester, typically the night of the last final or the day after that.

* Again, link this to a charitable cause to increase your chances of sponsorship. Start with people you know.

* The same template sponsor letter that you used for the Holiday party can be used for the Luau. Admission is usually $10 or $5 with a contribution to the charitable event.

* Location: Previous years, we've rented clubhouses.   But be careful, two years ago, we left the place sparkling clean, but they refused to give our deposit back - they said it was dirty.

* Don't forget to send your sponsor a thank you letter!
Click the book for a sample template sponsor letter we've used in the past.
