Jones & Lincoln
William Jones appears to have first started brewing in 1884 in Urana, two years later Thomas Lincoln joined as a partner.

William Jones and Thomas.F. Lincoln, trading as Jones & Lincoln gained a brewers licence in Cootamundra in June 1889.   They purchased the Cootamundra Brewery from Thomas Rankin.

William Jones sold his share in the business in 1894 and the business then traded as Mclntyre & Lincoln & Co.

The July 22 Herald carried a full description of the brewery run by Messrs Mclntyre & Lincoln, situated 'almost at the corner of Yass and Olney streets.' [Rear 74 Mackay Street.]

Manager D.Turner put the average winter 'output of ale' at 3500 gallons a month, the summer figure totalling'upwards of 9000 gallons for a similar period. The extensive brewing works included two large guiles, two vats, an 800 gallon copper, a large cooler on the second floor, plus a yeast press and other 'minor appliances'.

'Motive power' for the brewery plus the 'cordial and aerated waters department' run in conjunction was supplied by a Davy, Paxman and Co 8hp engine, which could be worked 'up to 100lb pressure. ' The boiler house was 'carefully covered with asbestos, , renowned for its resistance to heat and consequent saving in fuel.

The cordial bottling area contained a sodawater machine, a bottling rack (from Glasgow) which was capable of turning out 60 dozen per hour, and a cork rack made in London. Gas was manufactured in generators and gasometers. Produced were lemonade, soda and tonic waters, ginger beer, sarsparilla, ginger ale, lime juice cordial, hop bitters, lemon and raspberry syrups, flavours of cloves and peppermint, ginger wine, quinine, tonic and other bitters and Dandelion Ale.

The blownglass bottles containing these palate tempting treats were blue in colour, carried the name of the firm and of their several branches and were manufactured in England.

Jones & Lincoln / McIntyre & Lincoln were proprietors of breweries in Narrandera  (1888 - 1894) (headquarters), Hay (1891 - 1898),
Hillston (1888 - 1898), Temora (1892 - 1895), Urana (1884 - 1896), Jerilderie (1883 - 1897) and Tocumwal (??).

Lamonts seem to be the only bottles used by this company in Cootamundra.

It appears three types were used.

The first type has 'Jones Lincoln & Co' in vertical script and 'Narrandera Cootamundra Temora Jerilderie Urana Hay in horizontal script
This version comes in two sizes.

The second type has 'Jones Lincoln & Co' 'Brewers Narrandera Cootamundra Temora Jerilderie Urana Hillston Hay Tocumwal' all in vertical script  The base of the bottle has the entwined CKB makers mark.
This version again comes in two sizes.

The third type is of a more solid construction, with a flat, thick base.
All script runs vertically.  Two sizes are known.
