COOP'S HIKING PAGE
10/02 - GA - Brasstown Bald - We rented a cabin in Blairsville and this highest point in GA was just around the corner.  There is a parking lot aout 1.5 miles below the top and a pathway to walk up to an observation area with some exhibits.  We flatlanders were a little winded by the climb, but were rewarded with an autumn panorama.  This was our first trek out with Delaney.
OTHER HIKES
10/02 - GA - AT - Widcat Mountain - Tesnatee Gap to Hog Pen Gap - One of the reasons we ended up in Blairsville was its proximity to the AT. I wanted to get a feel for the GA hills and see some of the sites for future hikes.  We had been to Neel's Gap and Unicoi Gap and seem some other crossings.  I wanted to get a little time on the trail and we had seen these two gaps on our drive back from Brasstown Bald.  It's kind of funny, they are about a half mile apart on the road.  Well, one man's PUD is this man's exhilirating first steps on the AT in many years.  I hiked up Wildcat Mountain which is pretty steep.  There is a view here, but on this day the top was in the clouds.  I couldn't wipe the grin off my face the whole 45 minutes.
7/01 - CA - Yosemite - Vernal Falls - Our Yosemite trip really amazed me and pretty much sent me over the edge on wanting to spend more time outdoors.  This is one of the Valley Floor hikes and follows the JMT for a few miles.  It was quite crowded but a great chance to hike up the cascading river to a beautiful lake.  I can't describe the beauty - just see it for yourself.
